I have deep, deep love for these cars, and it looks really nice, but this is insane.

Probably a CP at 25k, but that’s the BaT tax these days.

That said, it is a super rad car and I want it.

Yeah, I must have missed the memo that Sotheby’s went out of business and sold it all to BaT.

Literally the last time I checked the site (until about a month ago) it was just a place for obscure beaters and projects.

First car I ever drove 38 years ago was a plain Jane Rabbit of the same vintage. I have always lusted after that black GTI with the red pin stripes. What a beauty.

It doesn’t help that everyone is stuck at home, with nothing to do but spend their money on sweet cars.

Coming from a family who owned quite a few 80s VWs, once you deduct for the intangible “cool factor” of the MkI Rabbit, it’s worth exactly negative three thousand dollars to me ;)

I understand these have become expensive, even when the USDM MK1 Golf GTI looks very odd to me. Still though, it’s a type of car that offers a type.of driving fun that you simply cannot find in recent cars.

25k is too much though.

What? I bought a kind of rusty one like that for four hundred bucks about 15 years ago. My ex gf got a couple years out of it before the frame rotted through.  T he motor ended up in a Jetta gli t hat I bought from a friend of mine   lol.
